| Why is it three million years? |

It is "three million years" that a monolith was filled up in the surface of the moon. It is the age when mankind was an ape man. But, "three million years" which Clarke was set up to corresponded to another happening as well. The ring of the Saturn was created in the age which was the same as mankind, too. The ring of the Saturn(The ring of the planet) is for Clarke, was it the basis of sincerity to set up the generation of the surface of the moon monolith? If it is so, the destination of Discovery must be the Saturn. Because, at the time of year 1968 when 2001 A Space Odyssey was completed, it is because the planet where a ring was discovered was only the Saturn. But, by the movie,the destination of Discovery was changed to Jupiter. Did the makers of the movie expect the discovery of the planet ring after that? ---------------------------------------------------- Year 1977, the ring of the Uranus is discovered Year 1979, the ring of Jupiter is discovered Year 1989, the ring of Neptune is discovered (A ring seems that be in the sun as well.) ---------------------------------------------------- As for the origin of the ring of the planet, (1) The satellite where it exceeded a limit of Roches(sorry,it isn't confident of the spelling) crushed. (2) It is the piece of the comet which collided with the planet. There are some various views additionally, too. It seems to do Clarke based on the opinion of (1). Clarke seems to be still anxious about the existence of "the satellite". The moon,(the ring of the Saturn),Japetus,Io,Europa... "It was the meeting body of the monolith when it was made to analyze the ring of the Saturn in HAL9000." How do you like such a setup? |
